The film failed at box-office but Aishwarya’s acting was praised but it was until 1999 in which she got well recognized by Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam a romantic drama which eventually turned out to be turning point in her career & after that she acted in many successful films such as Devdas, Josh, Guru, Dhoom 2 etc. In 1997 she made her acting debut in Tamil film Iruvar & in the same year she debuted in Bollywood Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya opposite Bobby Deol. Rai continued to pursue career in modelling until she became an actress. In 1991 she won a supermodel contest & was eventually featured in American edition of Vogue In 1994 she won second place in Miss India pageant. Where she attended Arya Vidya Mandir High School & after that joined DG Ruparel College securing 90% marks in HSC but later gave up studies to pursue career in modelling. Her father was a marine biologist while her mother was a housewife.
